Last year was the first time that I left my iPhone for more than a month and switch to Android. I used the Galaxy S7 for around 5 Months until the iPhone 7 came out. I've always liked Android but until a couple years ago it just wasn't as good as iOS and when I say good I mean the apps available on the OS were not as good as those on iOS.

Switching from iPhone 7 to Galaxy S8

I believe 2017 is the first year that it doesn't really matter what phone you choose because all of them are going to be pretty much the same. The iPhone 8 will look and function very similarly to the Galaxy S8 and both devices have lots of features which end up accomplishing the same thing. I sold my iPhone 7 a couple of weeks ago in preparation for the Galaxy S8 because it is the best smartphone ever made. The combination of materials, features, software, and design of the phone make it the most comfortable smartphone I have held and it sports the most beautiful screen I have seen. The iPhone 8 will most like match all this but we are still months away from an announcement this means it's currently Samsung's turn to shine.

I ended up purchasing the Silver since I have had a black phone for the past couple of years and Samsung has given all the S8 colors black fronts which is perfect. If you have yet to see one in person, I highly reccomend going to a store and checking it out. This is what phones will look like for the next couple of years until the foldable displays become more affordable. I’ll be making some videos on the S8 this coming weekend so stay tuned for those!

Download iOS 10 and macOS Sierra Wallpapers for iPhone, iPad, and Mac

The betas of iOS 10 and macOS 10.12 Sierra are now in the hands of developers and enthusiasts. While there are lots of new features, you might want to hold off until the official release or the public betas coming in July. My iMac has suffered a pretty significant hit in performance with the first beta of macOS Sierra while my iPhone just fails to open certain apps and perform smoothly. With that said, here are the iOS 10 and macOS 10.12 Sierra wallpapers so you can feel like you have the beta until you get your hands on the more stable versions.

Gold MacBook Unboxing & Overview [Video]

Apple’s new MacBooks are now available at retail stores nationwide and with that come videos from me showing you Apple’s latest so you can decide if you want spend your money on it. Here is my unboxing of the Gold MacBook:

The new MacBook feels premium yet it is light and portable. For ~$1,400 you can go to an Apple Store and get yourself one. Don’t expect this laptop to be super speedy and handle all of your productivity done but it is able to handle quite a bit! I’ve been able to run Final Cut Pro and Pixelmator with little-to-no problems.

The Gold MacBook is stunning in its own way. This color basically says “I have the new MacBook and it’s Gold”. You’ll probably get a lot of people looking at your new MacBook if you opt for gold but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

The Silver MacBook looks sleek and clean. I initially was set on the Space Gray but after using the Silver for some time I now don’t know which color I prefer. This color is definitely the way to go if you tend to prefer minimal and clean design.

This Space Gray color looks really great, it’s a much nicer shade than that of the iPhone 6. This is definitely the color to choose if you want something subtle yet sharp and attractive.

Henge Dock Vertical Docking Station for MacBook Air Review

image

Henge Docks is a company that makes docking stations for various models of the MacBook, so you can just set your laptop in and essentially convert it to a desktop. This particular review relates to the MacBook Air 13″ model, which supports one USB and one Thunderbolt port. The cost of this dock is set at $65 and can be purchased at Henge Docks’ website.

imageFirst off, we’ll look at the design. This dock has a white plastic outer coating and grey inner color, with a durable plastic inside to help make sure it’s sturdy. With a larger base, you can ensure your MacBook won’t fall over. On the other hand, though, it’s not to big and the part that hold the MacBook is quite thin. On the back are the two ports: one USB and one Thunderbolt, and on the sides the Henge Docks logo is shown in grey.

This design is very nice, though I kind of wish that Henge Docks had chosen an aluminum color to match with the MacBook and accessories like the SuperDrive, Magic Trackpad, and keyboard.

Next up is the functionality. With a vertical dock and a design like the MacBook Air, there isn’t a great way to cover all of the ports, which does kind of leave me wanting more from something like this. Because the Air has one USB port, SD card port and Thunderbolt port on one side and another USB port, 3.5mm audio port, and charging port on the other, a vertical dock can only utilize one USB port and the display port. However, I wish Henge Docks had split the port into two on the dock itself so you could at least plug one mouse and one keyboard into it. Simultaneously, though, it’s not going to break the bank to purchase a USB hub for additional devices. The other side-effect to using only the one side is that you have to plug the charger into the top of the Air, so Henge Docks included a clip to hold the charger in place, so that also isn’t too big of a deal.

Overall, I think this dock is probably the best vertical one on the market for the MacBook Air. Even with its quirks, everything seems to work very well, and I feel completely safe using it without it falling over. I highly recommend you check it out!

Photos of What Appear to be a 12-inch MacBook Surface Online

The folks over at iFanr have posted numerous photos of what appear to be the rumored 12-inch MacBook Air. Apple has allegedly been working on a new MacBook for some time which mixes the features of the MacBook Air and the MacBook Retina into one. The laptop will most likely sport a retina display, over 10 hours of battery life, and a small footprint.

There is still no word on how legitimate the photos are, one of the only odd things I noticed is that the lid doesn’t have the glowing Apple logo and instead it has one like that of an iPad. Apple might have also decided to remove the glowing logo to improve battery life and to keep the computer as slim as possible. Check out the gallery for yourself below!
