Nintendo Announces the 3DS XL, hits North America on August 19th (Video)
1Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, announced the 3DS XL during a Nintendo Direct presentation which will hit North America on August 19th which is the same day that New Super Mario Bros. 2 gets released for 3DS. The Nintendo 3DS XL will be priced at $199.99 and will include a 4GB memory card.
In North America, the new system will come in two color variations, blue and red while in Europe the Nintendo 3DS XL will begin shipping on July 28 in blue, red, and silver without a charging cradle like that of the 3DS. The 3DS XL will have and extended battery life that Nintendo said will offer 3.6 to 6.5 hours of play time with 3DS titles and and six to ten when playing regular DS titles. There is also a new 4.88 inch stereoscopic 3D display screen compared to the current 3DS which has a 3.53 inch screen. The bottom touchscreen display will also be increased from 3.02 inches to 4.18 inches.
