How to: Get Siri Dictation on iPhone 4, iPod Touch, iPhone 3GS

For a while now, all those iPhone 4S users have been teasing us with their ability to use Siri and Dictation. Sadly, we still haven’t gotten Siri but we are one step closer. Developer Eric Day has released a new jailbreak package called Siri0us, which you can get via a Cydia repository, and enables you to get Siri Dictation working on your iOS 5 device. Siri0us works just like it does on the iPhone 4S but it does have ads.

Instructions:
1. Have a jailbroken device running iOS 5
2. Go to Cydia and add http://apt.if0rce.com as a source.
3. Search for Siri0us and instal
4. Enjoy using dictation

Developers are hard at work trying to get Siri on the iPhone 4, meanwhile, if you have a jailbroken iOS 5 device then you should give this a try.

iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak? [Alternative]

Today BigBoss released a Semitethered jailbreak for iOS 5. Basically, how this works is simple. In a tethered jailbreak; when you turn of your phone you get stuck at the apple logo or the itunes restore screen but with this “Semithered” jailbreak you are instead limited to what you can use. Once you reboot your phone you will be able and unable to do the following:

  1) Can use phone, sms (text messages)
  2) Can use every other stock app on iphone.
  3) Cannot use mobile safari
  4) Can use other appstore web browsers such as atomic web browser
  5) Cannot use mail app. You could install a gmail app from appstore or such instead.
  6) You cannot use any jailbreak tweak, app, cydia until you boot tethered.
  7) While in the semitether booted state, you should not add a jailbreak ios5 notification such as sbsettings
to notifications during this state or your device will be stuck in a respring loop until you get home to
       “boot tethered”.

This is clearly much better than a tethered jailbreak because incase of a emergency you will be able to at least make a call or send a text message. At the moment it is in beta testing, this means there might be bugs and other disadvantages to doing this as well make sure you go to the source link and read all of their information.

Siri fully working on iPhone 4 and iPod touch

A couple of weeks ago the developer Steven Troughton-Smith had successfully ported Siri’s user-interface onto the iPhone 4. The only downside is that they couldn’t get Siri to connect to Apple’s servers. But now they were finally able to get the server fully working on the iPhone 4 and iPod touch. Sadly, there is no word on wether they will be bringing this to all jailbreakers out there so we will just have to wait.
