It has been over a year since Minecraft was announced for the Xbox One but we have finally gotten a firm release date. The game was believed to come out sometime in August but odds are that there were some setbacks in development but now fans of the game will be able to download it this Friday and build on worlds that are up to 36 times larger than those on the Xbox 360.
The game will retail for $20 and will be available digitally first while a disk version will be available later in the year. What comes as a surprise is that Mojang and Microsoft have a special offer for those who already own the Xbox 360 version of the game, they will be able to get the Xbox One version for just $5. All of the downloadable content that players have purchased on the Xbox 360 Edition will be available free to re-download on the Xbox One.
Hello Games is an indie game development studio that is known for the Joe Danger game series. What’s awesome is that each player will spawn in a world that is unlike any other due to the algorithms that Hello Games has created. The game will be a PS4 exclusive at launch but will eventually come out for the Xbox One and PC. Above is the story of No Man’s Sky and below is the game trailer.

Facebook has announced that it will acquire Oculus VR for $400 million in cash and 23.1 million shares of Facebook stock that are currently valued at $1.6 billion. This comes as a surprise to many people especially those who were backing Oculus VR. If you haven’t heard of Oculus VR, it is a company working a virtual reality headset called the Oculus Rift. Here is an overview of the Oculus Rift…
The Oculus Rift began as a Kickstarter project and the company has been improving the product ever since. Recently, they announced the Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 which sports a low-persistence OLED display and low-latency positional head tracking.
Here is Mark Zuckerberg’s full statement on the acquisition that is expected to close in the second quarter of 2014.
I’m excited to announce that we’ve agreed to acquire Oculus VR, the leader in virtual reality technology.
Our mission is to make the world more open and connected. For the past few years, this has mostly meant building mobile apps that help you share with the people you care about. We have a lot more to do on mobile, but at this point we feel we’re in a position where we can start focusing on what platforms will come next to enable even more useful, entertaining and personal experiences.
This is where Oculus comes in. They build virtual reality technology, like the Oculus Rift headset. When you put it on, you enter a completely immersive computer-generated environment, like a game or a movie scene or a place far away. The incredible thing about the technology is that you feel like you’re actually present in another place with other people. People who try it say it’s different from anything they’ve ever experienced in their lives.
Oculus’s mission is to enable you to experience the impossible. Their technology opens up the possibility of completely new kinds of experiences.
Immersive gaming will be the first, and Oculus already has big plans here that won’t be changing and we hope to accelerate. The Rift is highly anticipated by the gaming community, and there’s a lot of interest from developers in building for this platform. We’re going to focus on helping Oculus build out their product and develop partnerships to support more games. Oculus will continue operating independently within Facebook to achieve this.
But this is just the start. After games, we’re going to make Oculus a platform for many other experiences. Imagine enjoying a court side seat at a game, studying in a classroom of students and teachers all over the world or consulting with a doctor face-to-face — just by putting on goggles in your home.
This is really a new communication platform. By feeling truly present, you can share unbounded spaces and experiences with the people in your life. Imagine sharing not just moments with your friends online, but entire experiences and adventures.
These are just some of the potential uses. By working with developers and partners across the industry, together we can build many more. One day, we believe this kind of immersive, augmented reality will become a part of daily life for billions of people.
Virtual reality was once the dream of science fiction. But the internet was also once a dream, and so were computers and smartphones. The future is coming and we have a chance to build it together. I can’t wait to start working with the whole team at Oculus to bring this future to the world, and to unlock new worlds for all of us.
A few months ago, Rockstar Games took the stage and announced that Grand Theft Auto V was coming for PlayStaion 4, Xbox One, and PC this fall. The announcement wasn’t surprising since the game made $800 million in just 24 hours after launching on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
There is currently no specific date set for the release of GTA V for the next-gen consoles and PC but the game has popped up on numerous game retail sites with November release dates. The Canadian game retailer GameSeek has a release date of November 7th while other retailers listed the release date as November 14th. Here in the US, Amazon has a release date of December 31st so it’s safe to say that it will be released towards the end of this year as long as it doesn’t get delayed!
There is the possibility that the PC version will come out at a date later than that of the console versions but we are hoping that it will arrive during the same time as the console versions. Rockstar Games has also yet to announce the release date of the, much awaited, online heists and other DLC so they might be trying coordinate everything to be released at once. The game will have improved visual, graphics, textures, and will look like a brand new game once it hits next-gen so it’s not just being ported over. Whether it’s released sooner or later, I recommend you start saving up for the game now so you are ready when the time comes!
During their E3 Press Conference, Nintendo debuted footage for the Wii U’s “Legend Of Zelda” game that is set to be released in 2015. The game is said to have a vast open world that will allow players to plan their approach in more ways than any previous Zelda game, check out the footage/trailer below!
Colin Graham , the animation director for Watch Dogs, has made a walkthrough video showing some multiplayer gameplay of Watch Dogs. The game scheduled to release on May 27th for every major platform and will retail for $59.99. Check out the video above.
About Watch Dogs:
DYNAMIC NAVIGATION: Watch_Dogs gives you the ability to not only use the city’s ctOS to your advantage, but the streets as well. In real-world Chicago, cut through one of the buildings or climb to the rooftops to catch your target.
HACK THE CITY: Control the city’s infrastructure, in real time, with Aiden’s cell phone. Trap your enemy in a 30-car pileup by manipulating the traffic lights. Stop a train, and then board it to evade the authorities. Narrowly escape capture by quickly raising a drawbridge. Anything connected to the city’s CTOS can become your weapon.
HIGH OCTANE DRIVING: Get behind the wheel of more than 65 vehicles bursting with horsepower to explore the massive city while completing missions. Ubisoft Montreal partnered with Ubisoft Reflections, the acclaimed studio behind the award-winning Driver series to develop each vehicle with state-of-art physics and handling.
SEAMLESS MULTIPLAYER EXPERIENCE: Discover a new level of interaction, cooperation and confrontation between players thanks to a brand new multiplayer game system that links the single and multiplayer modes into one seamless experience. That means no menus, no loading screens, just instant open world multiplayer action.
STAY CONNECTED WITH A NEW WAY TO PLAY: Go beyond the console with a ground-breaking, real-time, companion game. This innovative mobile platform allows players to connect and compete with friends, even when away from the home console. The Watch_Dogs companion game delivers dual-screen gameplay that enables you to play from anywhere, at any time.
PlayStation has posted a walkthrough of The new Amazing Spiderman 2 Videogame running on a PS4. The game is very similar to the first one and seems to borrow some aspects of the Arkham series. The game will arrive on April 29th for the PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, PS4, and Xbox One. Check out the trailer here:
The new mechanics of web-swinging are more than just a visual tick, and that’s why we often start off pointing them out.
Your cell phone is more than just a glorified menu and map — it’s also how you gauge your progress as New York’s guardian arachnid.
You’ll notice the combat scenario we show off in the video takes place in an open, outdoor environment. We’ve got this great wide world to play with in Manhattan, and we thought it would be a shame to just restrict you to a series of linear corridors.
It’s the same city as before, but it’s definitely a different world, and we can’t wait for you to discover all the other reasons why when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 arrives on April 29th.
The folks over at Thalmic Labs do the first ever in-house demonstration of the Myo armband with the Oculus Rift. The two devices combine to make the virtual reality experience even more immersive. The Myo armband is available for pre-order for $149 at thalmic.com/myo/preorder.
The Myo armband is a new device that turns your forearm into a controller, detecting muscle activity to control digital technologies over Bluetooth. It communicates with paired devices so that you can control presentations, video, games, and so much more!
